you are so right it makes me sick

I think about that all the time

shit used to come out that would give me goosebumps..

Maybe the music just dosent talke to me anymore... Im definetely stuck in that era...

last song I heard on the radio that was reminescent to those times was "Run"...that shit took me back for some reason...

I used to wait faithfully for albums to drop so I could go cop them.

Why do you think that shit is like that?

is it us? are we stuck in our time?

or is the music just a whole lot crappier?

I want to say the later, but then I sound like every old person who thought hip-hop was noise to begin with...

    i was thinking that too

    there could be several reasons

one, there wasnt that MUCH music out there, so when it dropped it had a bigger effect, nowadays, rappers got like 50 songs on mixtapes b4 they ever have a video

also, could be cause the music was so much rawer then, and we felt unique knowing that we listened to that shit, nowadays people make music for white college chicks, their main demographic and dont give a fuck about what the heads who been in hip-hop from the beginning think

cause none of those videos i just mentioned who do well as a single if they came out today

back then people just dropped their hottest songs as their single

now, they pick the club song, the song that'll appeal to women and shit

yeah, nothing is truly grimy anymore...The last grimy cat to sell was DMX....Now you have to be a pretty boy type...Cats that are raw dont get video play....you have to be on some homo thug shit to get into rotation.

I hate it man, I dont watch videos or listen to the radio anymore. Nothing's ever worth peeping....

i used to have to have the VCR ready every day when Rap city was comming on to get some ill video...Now shits just fucking crap

    WORD THE FUCK UP.

this is so real and i always wondered if i was Me or everyone in my generation.

I remember the Blac Monks, Boogiemonsters, smif n wesson, common sense, there was SO MUCH iLL shit that i beleive had i grown up the same age n this era i wouldnt even love hip hop as much as I do. we used to get disses called Wiggers and everything else, it was mos def NOT COOL to be into hip hop and it made it that much stronger. its pretty cool in retrospect and i appreciate hip hop for what it truly is and i think of that goes to the earlier days that i was into this shit cuz outisde of Cee-lo, kanye, couple others, i dont think hip hp is shit anymore. im glad to be a part of that shit and i still bang shit from 90-97 ..

hip hop had integrity...originality...and heart...all of which have disappeared...back in the days cats had to work to be a dope emcee...now rodney king, randy savage and new jacks think they can jump right in...nobody makes a dope record because they wanted to make it the best it could possibly be...nobody makes a record as a reflection of skills anymore...its all what gets the rich kids money...its fuckin sad

    87-93...nothing gets better

"before we even learned to make beats...we was in the basement freestylin to 45 king breakbeats...but see rap is coorperate now...its all about endorsements...and now the rich kids love it so fuck the poor kids now" R.A.
