My as well put ya popcorn away Kon...My days of net debate are just about over....

anyone who agree's with the thread poster doesn't understand the concept of subjectivity......most net heads don't....if you don't like a artist they support, you're automatically HATING on that person.......whateva....Im bout over this message board shit......from now on I think I'll play more of a spectators role, really picking and choosing what threads I respond in.....replying is becoming pointless.....

yeah he's a great lyricist. but you can't expect everyone to think he's the best.

there's a lot of great lyricists.

Come on, Chipz... it's all opinions, yo... say it ain't so... I wanted to read both of your opinions, because I'm stuck in the middle... it's not that serious... Nim is a cool guy actually... he says shit deliberately to get under ya skin... but if you feel you gotta take a break, then more power to you... I've been like that before, but now it's just fun and games to me...

he's up there, he ain't undisputably the greatest. I preferred his flow and content back in the Illmatic days, nowadays it's like he's trying to do too much, getting too complicated. back when he started you could still hear the old school influence, where he ended each line with a rhyme, took a breath, then went for the next line...

"what up kid? I know shit is rough doing your bid
when the cops came you shoulda slid to my crib
fuck it black, no time for looking back, it's done
plus congratulations, you know you got a son"

that type of shit, he kept it rhythmic. nowadays are so complex and tangled it's hard to follow how he even stay on the beat

"Another chapter of the cleanest rapper, distinguished gentlemen
Crooks and castle on his back, maybach-er, exotic lady eye-catcher
Holla at'cha, call me the chiropractor, working like Muay Thai class
    Get perspire out ya"

I mean it's cool but that shit starts to wear on me after a while. plus some of the messages he spits are stupid as hell at times.

As far as pure lyricism goes (as in, beats, flow, charisma, influence not considered), Illogic and Sage Francis shit all over Nas...

Rap is always too damm subjective...it's not like sports where we can look at stats or rings...sales have too many factors to count for anything.

I have a hard time saying anybody or any song/album is the "greatest" of all time, because it's too much that's qualitative to go by, and everybody has completely different taste.

Says the guy that dedicates his sig to another board member.

Sage and Illogic have deeper, more substantial, more abstract, conceptually better lyrics. It's a fact of songwriting dipshit, anyone that knows anything about songwriting and lyricism will agree with me, obviously you don't. Now go listen to Lil Wayne...

the thing is, millions of people would say nas is a better lyricist and sage and illogic's fanbase of 50,000 or so would disagree with those millions.

i hate when people bring no-name ass niggas into mainstream arguments. sage and illogic ain't on the lists of the majority of hip hop fans. keep them on your "top 10 greatest underground rappers" list, pimp.
