The Doors did a pretty good version of it as a tribute to Morrison I think. It's, ummm, Doorsier than what you normally hear but I think they did it justice.

Robert W. Smith - By Loch and Mountain (it's 'happy' in the second half, so you might not like it, Kurt)

    I like Tchaikovsky's 1812 (cliche) and Vivaldi's Winter.

OH... James Newton Howard is my current favorite. I like just about he does on everything. Movies and Halo (game), and I'm not a Halo nerd, but the music is great.

Yeah. I think people are a little reluctant to mention Williams because he's so known and praised already, but he's done quite a bit of good. I mean, the Jaws theme man... the Jaws theme.

    and word@ Yngwie.

With your interest in metal, I think you'd probably like quite a bit of Bach's organ work.

I don't mind happy music, although I definitely seem to prefer the dark and/or melancholy.

I just take it on a piece-by-piece basis because some material connects and some doesn't.

    Indeed.

Debussy was known for shaking up music theory.

Yeah. The short attention spans in today's world almost render classical music obsolete. Most of it was composed at a time when every Tom, Dick, and Brahman could sight read a little.
