Not making excuses at all, but didn't Anderson have some severe injury that didn't heal up in time for that fight?

I obviously have no idea if that's true or not, all I know is dude got mounted and could have been stopped if Lutter continues with strikes.

But, I def heard about the injury.

edit: My bad, didn't see someone else basically ask this.

How would you breakdown Maia/Silva? Do you see another Thales Leites performance from Maia? Lmao

No. It's not that I want to see him lose. I want him to have to fight all types of different fights that work against his weakness. MMA is a strengths vs weakness thing. There is no such thing as "BEST". GSP and BJ Penn are most well-rounded than Anderson is because tho' they might not have as explosive/exciting striking as Anderson, they have better takedown defense, takedowns, very good stand up, AND ground game. Anderson keeps getting handpicked stand up guys. James Irvin is the perfect example. Chris Leben is a perfect example. Forrest Griffin is a perfect example.

If he beats everyone... GREAT. But stop feeding him fighters that work to his strength. Give him a bit of everyone AND THEN call him best P4P.

Last time I checked, BJ Penn beat stand up guys, wrestler guys, jiu-jitsu guys, and whatnot. Last time I checked... St. Pierre has as well.

They've only given Anderson one legit ground guy and that guy just came with a retarded strategy in round 2 but was winning the fight. Let's get more guys like Hendo against Anderson. Again, I think Palhares would destroy Anderson. Maybe the best takedowns in the middleweight division and arguably the best BJJ along-side Demian Maia.

That's the only thing I'm a 'lil worried with Maia. I wanna know how he's gonna get the fight to the ground.

No. I AM worried Maia might not be able to get it to the ground but I think Maia has better stand up than Leites did (proven in the Dan Miller fight that he's REALLY worked on his boxing) and he's also proven he has pretty solid takedowns with that toss he did on a legit wrestler (Chael Sonnen).

If it ends up on the ground... Anderson's in trouble. That's all I know.

For the record, it's GSP keeping the Anderson fight from happening. Not Silva. Not even White.

It's easy to say a person's been given weak competition after the fact.

If Maia subs Anderson, ohmygodohmygod anderson lost.

if anderson knocks out Maia, big deal. He should've been fighting Lyoto or GSP.

    That's what I'm talking about.

No. Dana White keeps saying that Anderson's too big for him and that he doesn't want that fight happening.

Okay maybe Anderson Silva is a jerk. Who knows? I don't know. He's a good fighter, but it's really a dream fight to see GSP vs. Silva. GSP still has to keep his belt, because there's a ton of good fighters in the welterweight division. Maybe they're protecting Silva, which could be a reason why the pay-per-view numbers are the low when he's the headliner. The UFC is about entertainment and even though Dana White likes good fights, he's in business to make money. If a two stand up fighter will make for an exciting match then that what might happen. He's going against Maia who's a jiujitsu specialist, so we'll see what happens. I feel like everyone is forgetting that Silva is a black belt in jiu-jitsu. Honestly I would love to see Frank Mir fight Silva, because Silva seems pretty cocky about that. I understand you have to test yourself, but he seems cocky about it.

They aren't protecting Silva. Good god.

Who did they match him with after it turns out his takedown defense isn't all that great? Olympic wrestler Dan Henderson.

It's actually downright amazing they're pairing him with another one dimensional jiu jitsu guy after the last result.

Not really sure why I saw Leben and Forrest mentioned either. There was little reason to think Anderson Silva would look like a bullfighter against a retarded bull in the Leben fight, and Forrest was sent to beat Anderson because he was stinking up the joint and constantly talking retirement. The general consensus was that Forrest could at least grind out a decision win over Silva because he's big and well-rounded. Notice how surprised Dana was that Silva's frame looked pretty good for 205.

Admittedly there are dangerous opponents out there for Silva that he hasn't faced, but it'd be kinda weird and ambushy to book him against every wrestling and jiu jitsu expert until one of them gets the job done. Maia doesn't even really deserve the title shot at this point, but it's kinda slim pickins.

fact: silva is the best P4P fighter on the planet and can pretty much say what he wants

fact: he definatly knows he's the shit. he tries his best to be humble but sometimes he gets a little cocky.

    fact: who cares

fact: GSP cannot beat Anderson Silva and neither can BJ penn
