Jean Paul Samputu is a spirited musicians from Rwanda and a winner of both the Kora award or the “African Grammy” and the Calabesh Award for Peace. His music is a fusion of traditional African elements and contemporary styles and his voice speaks to the soul no matter what your native language may be.

A victim of the Rwandan genocide, Samputu lost his entire immediate family in 1994. However Samputu rises above the hatred and anger to create music that promotes peace and forgiveness. With a lulling voice serenading in a lovely tenor range, Samputu is accompanied by chorus vocals, gentle reggae infusions, and subtle gospel and R&B flavors. His art has brought Rwandan music to the mainstream.
