These are all the albums that i can think of that dropped so far this year...

    Musiq - Luvanmusiq
Joss Stone - Introducing Joss Stone
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
    Lloyd - Street Love
    Marques Houston - Veteran
    Ne-Yo - Because of You
Tank - Sex, Love & Pain
    Bobby Valentino - Special Occasion
Amerie - Because I Love It
Gerald Levert - In My Songs
    Jill Scott- Collaborations
    Daddy's Little Girls soundtrack
Sunshine Anderson - Sunshine At Midnight
Joe - Aint Nothing Like Me
    Anthony Hamilton - Southern Comfort

late December releases - Tyrese, Brian McKnight, Fantasia

theres only three up there that i havent heard, all the others were at least decent. Thats why i dont get when people say r&b sucks, cuz there's some good music being made.

Anyways my list right now goes

    1. Tank
    2. Joss Stone
    3. Amy Winehouse
    4. Ne-Yo
    5. Bobby Valentino

    what y'all got?

I haven't been listening to much new R&B this year but, based on what I have heard:
    1) Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
    2) Ryan Shaw - This is Ryan Shaw
    3) Joss Stone - Introducing Joss Stone

    4) Musiq - Luvanmusiq
    5) Elisabeth Withers - It Can Happen To You

I'd put Eric Bibb's Diamond Days at 3.5 if I can list a blues album, and Alice Smith's For Lovers, Dreamers and Me at 1.5 if I can list a 2006 release that hasn't really gotten much push and that I didn't hear until this year.

    Outta of curiousity.

Would you consider Amy's album as a 2007 release, even though it really came out in 2006, but just reached the US in 2007?

What's he sounding like these days... I liked his cd from 99... but I'm afraid to listen to artists I liked back then... because I really don't like many of them now... i.e. Musiq... Joe... and there is about 4-6 others... but I really don't feel like thinking...

^I still bump Emotional Carl Thomas's debut album. I didn't know he came out with another one. Musiq is and always has been ill imo. That new Joe sucks because he is trying to appeal to the hip hop side more than the R&B side with his latest album. He should stick to what got him this far which is his R&B swagger.

Listening to snippets of Amy Winehouse piqued my interest because I wanted to see what all the hype was... I'm not completely impressed yet. I've pretty much given up on contemporary R&B... I'm still waiting on the Bilal, though... and I just ordered Nuwamba's "Above the Water" CD, which I've been trying to find since '04. The only other R&B/soul I've bought this year are all "oldies, but goodies"... The Temptations, Sly & The Family Stone, Eddie Kendricks, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight & The Pips
