    Heard all these previously:

    Who Dat
    In The Morning
    Cant Get Enough
    Lights Please
    Mr. Nice Watch
    Workout

So without considering those, Rise and Shine is my favorite right now.

    Easily album of the year.

If your a fan, go out and buy the album. Shit's too good not to get the recognition it deserves.

    Let's see...

    Red
    The Greatest Story Ever Told
    Cats & Dogs
    Return 4 Eva
    Section 80
    Cole World

That's at least 6 albums hailed as "classic" by RM heads this year... and I know I'm missing a few more.

I doubt they are all... but this is reminiscent of '00-'02 when heads here claimed a classic dropped every month.

...an album, which has dropped this year or in the previous years for that matter; can hardly be labeled as a "classic", since only a handfull of these releases will be played a decade or two from now...

    i wouldn't say its a classic but it's a very good album.

and from what ive heard it doesnt need to be a classic to be the best album of the year either.

havent heard a lot of other albums recently though

and J COle did an excellent job on this album, even though some of the songs were from his mixtapes.

I thought he changed his style with the Jay track, but he just dumbed it down on that one song. dude came out showing his lyrical prowess, spittin illness pretty much throughout the whole album... beats were good too...

that being said... I'd give it an 8/10 it doesnt get a higher rating because even though it was lyrical fire... it felt safe as fuck... there was no track where I was completely blown away from amazement like say... "The World Is Yours" from Elmatic, ""If You Can Save Me Now" by Atmosphere or "Murder in the Excellence" from Watch the throne...

still, J Cole is lightyears ahead of most of the hip hop newcomers in his class

I was blown away by lost ones. I mean, this guy is signed to the ROC. It's not like he can get away with just putting anything out, he's gotta appeal to the masses now. And for him to drop lost ones on his debut album is pretty fuckin amazing.
