Long time since I've been on RM and I miss all the squabbling here in IntroSpectrum. So, here it goes. What's everyones stance on republican state legislatures and the overabundance of abortion legislation? Personally, I find it quite amazing that republicans continue to beat this horse. I also find it interesting that some such as Scott Walker have no problem signing the legislation into law, yet try to hide the legislation as if it never happened. If you have no qualms over signing the legislation, than put it out there. If you're ashamed of the legislation, veto it and put it out there that you followed your principles. Now in the senate, we have shills such as Marco Rubio trying to bone up on their 'Merican/christian/conservative/i'mnotacommie' bona fides. Back in the real world, these actions by the GOP have real world implications. One would be the welfare of women that are pregnant. While they always want to pretend like it's the women's health they're oh so concerned about, they are really just looking to score political points and to get the world to fold to their will. Examples like the girl in Chile are what happens when the GOP's desired laws take a stranglehold on sanity and reason. Now you... What do you think?
Freakonimics did a study on the cultural value of abortions which makes sense. I'm not very conservative on social issues and I'm as pro-abortion as it gets.
I think the State should be in control of Demographics, period. I believe that the State should encourage the better specimens to breed and discourage, even by medical force if need be, the lesser specimens to not reproduce. All people on this list should be chemically sterilized Homosexuals Alcoholics Drug addicts Mental illness and or a long history of mental illness within the family Sexually promiscuous persons Repeat criminal behaviors Trans-gendered persons (mental illness) Epileptics Dull/idiots The mentally Handicapped The physically Handicapped (with reasonable limitations) Rapists/Pedophiles
What about the Alan Turings and Da Vincis? A lot of highly intelligent people are homosexuals. They have utility.
