    vague. 'religion and good morals' as in necessarily together or each on their own? i think a common concept of 'morality' is all we really need for a functional society... religion does help establish an air of moral authority in some cases but its not a necessary piece of the equation..

    now i dunno if a functional society is how you define public liberty and happiness or not. to me, morality should basically weigh the rights of the individual vs the rights of the collective and find the right balance between absolute liberty going to either entity. for someone to have unlimited rights they would have to trump the rights of others, so nobody should have absolute liberty, just their fair share.
