Yorkvilles and Wharfdales are some serious bang for the buck monitors.
I'd choose either over the M-Audio line, and most Event mons...save the 20/20 and SP6,8.

For the price, I don't see many, if any mons giving what these do.

yo dog you think it would benefit me to get the Event TR8 Monitors if I'm just gonna use it for recording? Right now I just have my stereo system connected to my digital recorder, but I'm thinking of adding the events to my setup for added help when mixing.

$500 gives you plenty of room to breathe, so you'll have plenty of choices.
If you used a ode NT1A before, I'll take a guess, and say you have a mid-high voice, but you'll still need to let me hear a sample of your work so I can make the best judgement.

How good is the bass response on those Yorkville's?.. or the Wharfedale's for that matter. My dilemma is I'm thinking of getting something with an 8" woofer... but if I can get similar performance from the Yorkville or Wharfedale monitors, I'd go with them and save a few bucks...

The Yorkvilles cost a little more..about $100 more, and are a little more accurate, but both have good bass response.
The Yorkies seem to handle the highs slightly better, but then again, they also cost more.

    Ok, your voice is mid.

$500...I'd like to see you using a CAD VSM, or AT 3060.
