I remember when she said KRS's name sounded like a whack radio station.
Lmao storm, you can't be serious bro
I'm glad she is in, its about time more posters here recognized the history involved in battling. I hate hearing lectures on hip hop from 24 year olds that think battling started in the 90's.
Thanks man (and everyone else for the positive comments)...I'm not trying to make fun of anyone for not knowing about shante or anything like that, but i do hope that it encourages some of the people who are not familiar with her to check out some of her stuff.
A couple of battles from the New Music Seminar tourney (Busy Bee is also in the book, and his bio can be found in the subforum):
If it wasn't for broads like her you probably wouldn't be on this board bitching about this right now. Fall back.
Yea its an extreme necessity imo...of the 80s people its Roxanne, Busy Bee, Grandmaster Caz, and Kool Moe Dee.
For the record...
I like the format of the NMS battles..
4 bars, countdown, 4 Bars
lmao I'm keeping it real , nooo bodyyy in this thread ever heard of her until they posted it, be serious, she isnt anything in the battle world, she did good in music, but battling come on now, she never influenced a bar nowadays in any battler rappers life, she dont get mentioned, quoted, never mind i dont dick ride, that bitch is irrelevant
I've heard of her, but then again I was more of a fan of....
i knew who she was too, trust. but for music, to rank her as one of the 50 greatest battlers ever, is a joke
Keep in mind this book was being written before the emergence of this modern written era of battling.
I'm surprised by your outrage, when they're are plenty of battler's (specifically international) that shouldn't be amongst the 50 greatest, and their resume pails in comparison of yours.
yeah what the fuck is respek ba doing on there? lmao
Hey, is it possible to get an updated version of the list? Strictly out of curiosity. I know T-rex is in there now but I have no idea who's been taken in and out.
im from new york and grew up in the 70s
you really had to be around back then to fully get it
it's funny - the reason they used to hav those new music seminars was that no one really checked for rap back then - it was still trying to get put on in the music business
roxanne shante really put mc clashes on the map!
the utfo thing was huge
for a second, it seemed everyone was coming out with roxanne songs lol
and as u hear, she battles live too. famously
to be in the roxanne wars and the bridge wars,,, she's a legend
so all this 'bitch, broad, troll, nobody' stuff u talk may just be how you speak
but she is a verteran pioneer who helped build the house you're trying to stand in
so please.... wait 30 years... and see... who is calling the name 'johnny storm' in the history of mc battle
take care man
point taken, the same way NO ONE EVER mentions her now, ur syaing they wont mention me. difference is I'm just getting started and her ship done sailed. in 30 years if u think my name wont be bigger than hers in BATTLING then u must be on dust.
this generation knows about me and not her, so I already have a huge head start. I know ur her biggest fan but "C'MON SON"
oke: :beat: :hammer:
you little snot nose punk !
mind i dont go BOOM and run u down wit my dinosaur !:beat::beat::hammer::huh:
let i'll respond and put her thread up top some more lol
ur music never played on radio like hers bobby storm
shes on sprite commercial, vh1, beef dvd hiphop legend and things
but hey - that 2nd battle posted with her isnt 1/2 bad - better than most on here
bobby stirm - that little canadian boy made u look awkward lol
rox thread on top !!

Respect the people that helped make the bridge you walking across as we speak.
