I am a graphic designer, and this is a follow up on a book I'm creating noting the 50 greatest battlers of all-time. By now, I know a good number of you are aware of it. If not here is the link to the most recent thread: http://board.rapmusic.com/battle-vi...battlers-all-time-illustrations-complete.html

RegularJoe, (a poster on here) offered to write the bios and has begun working on some of them. I tried doing it myself at the beginning, but I figured it'd be best to leave a writer to do that portion of the work, and I feel its been a DEFINITE improvement. Each spread of the book will be set up so the battler's illustration is on one page, and his bio is on the other.

I will be posting them every so often on here, and I encourage feedback, criticism, other info, and whatever else you all can offer.

Below is both the bio itself, and how it will appear in the book. This is Nems'. Thanks again, all previous feedback has been a huge help.

Also, here are the previous ones that have been posted, for those who have not seen them:

What makes a battle rapper real? Is it living what you spit, basing your rhymes off of fact and not fiction? Or is it simply making your material believable, regardless of the reality it reflects? Is it earning the respect of your coast, your state, your city? Or is it simply repping that community to the fullest with every opportunity? Is it manifesting a true hatred for every MC you face? Or is it simply constructing a persona that makes your opponents believe you don't give a fuck about their life? In battle rap, the line between reality and fantasy is constantly blurred. But no matter what your definition of real, one thing is certain. When he stepped in front of the camera, there was nothing fake about Nems.

Brought up in the slums of Coney Island, Brooklyn, Nems claims he was writing rhymes consistently throughout high school, but never showcased his skills until the last day of school. Picking out the kid considered the best battler in his class, Nems used every piece of material he had stored up to demolish him in front of a sizeable crowd.

From then on, the half-Puerto Rican, half-Irish beast never slowed down, entering and winning battles across New York before getting his big break at Braggin' Rites in 2005. He triumphed over a field of 26 of NY's best battlers, establishing himself as one of the most respected MCs on the scene.

Over the next year and a half Nems would firmly cement his legacy on the East Coast by grinding out the most wins of any rapper in the history of Fight Klub. Other battlers would take nights off. Nems threw down every time he stepped into the building. His bars matched his delivery, both grimy as hell and devastating in impact. His attitude was disrespectful to the fullest extent. When Nems screamed "Fuck Ya Lyfe", the namesake of his crew and his most recognizable catchphrase, you believed he meant it. And he always stood up for his hood, shouting out Coney Island as often as he could. When it was all said and done, Nems had a record of 25-4 at Fight Klub, victories over legends such as Reignman and Eddie Morris, and a resume that no one could question.

Nems was successful as a battler outside of the Fight Klub doors as well, recording legendary bouts with good friend Marvwon on the D12 hosted Who Wanna Battle DVD and Mic Assassin in one of Jump Off TV's first UK vs. US battles. And while he claims to be finished inside of the ring, to this day, Nems remains everpresent at battle events, watching, judging and promoting his music, which is considered some of the highest quality wax made by a battle rapper. As long as there's a heart beating in his chest, you can expect to see Nems feeding off the energy and authenticity of the cypher. In his case, the saying is true. Real recognize real.

Unfortunately for Nems his internet footage isn't representative of how dope he was in battles. But here are a couple of his battles.

The battle with Marv is my personal favorite "street" battle ever.

wtf? I always wish I did that.

Another dope addition. Nems is the best. How do you know he is 26-4 or whatever on fight club? I've only seen 1 or 2 or his fight club battles curious why none of them have been released.

I'd seen him say in interviews he was 25-4, and it also said it on his myspace, and I think FK's old website. I had an "interview" with him over the phone, and he said while his official record was 25-4, he always felt it should of been 27-2 with the only losses being to Math and Cardi.

Not trying to sound like a douche or anything, but it was really cool hearing him tell some of the stories from FK.

Also, thanks for the compliments. And yea Diggles, this bio was one of my favorites thus far.

I dont know about this to be honest...Sure I kinda like Nems but Ive seen like 2-3-4-5 battles or something, and i dont think he has that much online that people have seen...so how can he be voted in to the top 50? Have you seen a bunch of videos that ive missed or something? As you stated above, his FK battles are "yet" to be realesed.

Man, Marv's second verse in that battle is just ridiculous. "YO ASHTON! YOU CAN COME OUT NOW, THIS SHIT AIN'T GON' WORK!"

Thanks for the props guys, Nems is a fun dude to write about, he had a TON of personality in his battles, and like the profile says, his music is dope as fuck, so you should check it out.

Greg ran a series of threads and polls on here, it was a long process and it was really collaborative to narrow the list down to what it became.

A guy like Nems is on the list because of his "battle stats," his consistency and his presence on the scene. For the 2 years that he was in his prime, he was one of the most known and most feared MCs spittin', and he was battling basically once a month, if not more. Plus his personality was just insane at the time. He had more charisma than many guys who you could claim had better bars than him.

Didn't realise nems battled that much. I've only seen 3 of his battles, 2 of which he lost. He's that dude though
