pic is big ^
goodness, you guys are killin it across the board somethin lovely
[creed] @ those in particular
When you say "soulful," are you talking about pics that convey and/or elicit the most emotion?
Because some of these posted aren't soulful at all... some are just grandiose posturing... and I agree with sartana's pic of Hitler... very soulful.
I think the pic of Sade huddled in the corner conveys coldness or fright... and the one with Jill Scott looking spacey-eyed with her hand on her head suggests confusion.
There is soul in the Edward Scissorhands pics... lots of deep melancholy, fear, and sadness.
Jazz cats are some of the most soulful!
Fuck Halle Berry... because Dorothy Dandridge is the most beautiful black woman of all time period.
I'm always stunned by her beauty... classy, sophisticated, elegant and sexy.
They’re all soulful.
Who’s to say they aren’t?
Grandiose posturing = euphoric, self-assured, vainglorious, superior, etc…
I don’t see why we’re quibbling.
true, some are just "look at me"... there can be soul behind that kind of display too though. like booker t's. it's clearly for show, but he's full of vibrant emotion
it's all relative based on perception
really? i don't see that... i would think her face would be more wrinkled or taut if that were the case, but i see her as looking relaxed and worry-free. hugging herself as she delights in the "warmth" that her savior, creator, or who/whatever has wrapped her up in. it's a pic of deep thankfulness and yearning for more love in my eyes.
i'll let misskey explain why she found soul in that
damn @ you having submitted this as i was typing
No quibbling... just offering a different perspective... there's some soul in confidence, but as we all know, confident displays can border on conceit and just empty posturing.
Really? I didn't notice her eyes in that pic... I'll look again... I think she was hugging herself because she was cold.
What do you see?
Photography is art... and art is always left up to the observer for interpretation.
an all-time great, without a doubt...
i saw the same thing you saw pretty much
a look of being confused, lost, and little desire to change it. she's just... there being lost and confused
not a picture i would personally pick out as being remarkably soulful, but i wouldn't knock it. i'd like to hear queen's perspective.
